SNAP/ HIP
What is HIP?
HIP stands for the Healthy Incentives Program. It helps SNAP (food stamps/EBT) customers buy more fresh fruits and vegetables from local farms and participating retailers like Farm Store 99.
How does HIP work?
When you use your SNAP/EBT card to buy eligible fresh fruits and vegetables, HIP gives you money back instantly onto your card. This means you can spend that money again on any SNAP-eligible items.
How much can I earn back?
The amount you can earn back depends on your household size:
-
1–2 people: up to $40 per month
-
3–5 people: up to $60 per month
-
6+ people: up to $80 per month
What kinds of foods qualify for HIP?
HIP applies to fresh, frozen, canned, or dried fruits and vegetables — as long as they have no added sugar, salt, or fat. For example: apples, carrots, spinach, tomatoes, corn, beans, and more.
Where can I use HIP?
You can earn HIP rewards when you shop at Farm Store 99, our Mobile Market, and other participating farm stands, farmers markets, and CSAs.
How do I know if I’ve earned HIP rewards?
Your receipt will show the HIP benefit right after you make your purchase. The amount is added back to your EBT balance automatically.
Do HIP benefits roll over month to month?
No. HIP benefits reset at the beginning of each month. If you don’t use your maximum benefit in a month, the unused amount does not carry over.
How much do I need on my SNAP/EBT card to use HIP?
You need to have some money available on your EBT card to earn HIP. When you spend SNAP on eligible fruits and vegetables, the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) instantly puts the money back onto your card — up to your monthly HIP limit.
